Telecom company Reliance Jio has recorded an average speed of about 600 mbps in beta testing of 5G internet and Bharti Airtel has recorded an average speed of about 516 mbps. Ookla, a company doing research on broadband speed, has given this information in the report released on Tuesday. Ookla compared the average 5G download speed across the four cities where both Jio and Airtel set up their 5G networks. According to Ookla's 'Speedtest Intelligence' report, Airtel's average 5G download speed in Delhi stood at 197.98 Mbps. While the average download speed of 5G on Jio's network was recorded at 598.58 Mbps. The speed of Jio is more than three times the speed of Airtel.

This means that a 2 hour HD movie can be downloaded in one minute 25 seconds, which is usually around 6 GB in size. At the same time, 4K quality movies can be downloaded in about 3 minutes at a top speed of 600 mbps.
Bharti Airtel has started 5G services in eight cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. Jio has started beta testing in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi. In testing, Airtel's network achieved a top average speed of 516.57 Mbps in Varanasi. At the same time, Airtel has achieved an average download speed of 271.07 Mbps in Mumbai while Jio's 5G speed in the financial capital is 515.38 Mbps.
India ranked 117th in terms of download speed
According to the Global Index of Speedtest, India was ranked 117th in the world in terms of mobile download speed at 13.52 Mbps in August 2022. Ookla's report states that the new 5G results show that the 5G speed is much better than the existing network in India.
