According to a report published in news agency Reuters, the Tata Group is considering setting up an assembly unit for Apple in India in a joint venture with Taiwanese supplier Wistron Corp. Sources related to this matter said that Wistron's specialty is technology manufacturing. Together with this, the Tata Group wants to expand its business in the direction of product development, supply chain and assembling.
iPhone is being made in India since 2017
Apple phones are being assembled in India from the year 2017. First Wistron and then Foxconn installed an assembling unit for Apple phones in India. The government is also making constant efforts to promote local manufacturing. The report clearly states that at present, Apple is not aware of the ongoing discussions between Wistron and Tata Group.
Several options are being considered
Regarding the details of the deal between Wistron and Tata Group, it was said that several options are being considered. The first option is that the Tata group buys some stake in Wistron India. Another option is to make a new assembling unit together. This will also expand the capacity. The third option may be to proceed on both the options simultaneously.

The Tata group is expected to buy a stake in Wistron's manufacturing business and take advantage of the company's technology manufacturing prowess. iPhone 14 production will start in India after six weeks of China
Apple started iPhone manufacturing in India in the year 2017. In India, the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are manufactured at Foxconn Unit. The assembly of iPhone SE and iPhone 12 is done in Wistron factory. It is believed that the manufacturing of the recently launched iPhone 14 in India will start at least six weeks after manufacturing in China.
