Meta deleted 21.2 million Facebook content and over 2.4 million Instagram content in February under India's IT Rules 2021. Meta received 478 reports through its grievance mechanism in India in February and 100 per cent of these reports were responded to.
The company took action on 402 complaints
Of these reports, the social network provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 402 cases. The company said that this report describes our effort to remove harmful content from Facebook and Instagram. We are constantly striving to make Facebook and Instagram safe and secure.
Meta said that we use artificial intelligence to review our community reports and the content on the platform by our teams against company policies.
Bad content removed on these matters in February
Meta processed 15.4 million spam content, 2.4 million violent and graphic content, and 1.4 million adult nudity-related content in February.
The company said that they measure the number of any content (such as posts, photos, videos or comments) and take action on content that goes against our rules.
In January, Meta processed more than 11.6 million content across 13 policies for Facebook and 3.2 million in 12 policies for Instagram.
Action taken on so many accounts of WhatsApp
Whereas WhatsApp banned 1,426,000 bad accounts in India in February. The company received complaints in February in a total of 335 cases, out of which 21 were acted upon.
What is the new IT rules
Under the new IT Rules 2021, large digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users are required to publish monthly compliance reports.
