MOBILE IP RATING: People always keep mobile phones with them. It happens to us in all kinds of weather and conditions. That's why your phone is given an IP rating.
IP rating i.e. INGRESS PROTECTION which means to prevent any external particle from entering. They are determined by the International Electrotechnical Corporation under the IEC 60529 standard. This standard tells us how protected a device is from external objects such as dust, sunlight, moisture, and water.
What are the digits / digit in IP rating
You get to see two digits after the IP rating. For example, IP67, the first digit in this SOLID OBJECT ie shows how safe your phone is from solid materials (dust, soil, sharp objects, hands, fingers).
Its range is 1 to 6. In which 1 means least and 6 means highest.
On the other hand, the second digit here is LIQUID i.e. how safe will it be in accidents related to liquids like moisture, water, tea spill etc. To what depth will it be safe in the water and how much pressure will it be able to handle. Its range is from 1 to 9, with 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.
What is IP XX Rating
IP XX means 00. x means 0 which means that this device is not secure at all and it has not been given any security rating. If the first digit is x means that there is no protection against solid objects, while the second digit is x means that the liquid protection is zero.
IP Rating Table
For solid object (for first digit)
0- no protection
1- Protection against solid objects larger than 50 mm, such as the palm of the hand
2- Protection against objects larger than 12.5 mm, such as a finger
3- Protection against objects larger than 2.5 mm such as thin wires, nails etc.
4- Protection against solid objects larger than 1mm such as screws etc.
5- Very fine as well as safe from dust.
6- DUST TIGHT, that is, completely protected from dust. Complete Vacuum.
Liquid Object (for the second issue)
0- No protection from any kind of liquid
1- Protection only from drops falling directly on the mobile
2- Protection against falling water when the device is in 15 degrees
3- Protection against water, water spray falling directly on the device at 60 degrees
4- The device can be protected from water falling from any side for about 10 minutes.
5- Low pressure water jet, device safe from falling water from any side
6- With high power water jet and large nozzle water edge, safe for falling from any side
Will be safe if submerged in low pressure for 30 minutes from 7- 15 cm to a depth of 1 meter
8- The device will be safe even if it is submerged in a depth of more than 1 meter. How long and for how long the temperature will be safe, it is told by the company.
9- High pressure water, high temperature water all keep the device completely safe. Such protection is seen in vehicles.
